More than meets the eye: Anticipating the release of the Transformers movie – Part 9

Children of the 80’s rejoiced when they heard that Transformers was going to be made into a live-action movie. However, there was some concern with the announcement of director, Michael Bay, who has directed such films as Pearl Harbor, Armageddon, and The Rock. Personally, I think that Bay is the perfect choice to direct a movie about giant fighting robots, since he seems to specialize in intense, interesting and lengthy action sequences, which the Transformers movie should consist of. Eventually, the negative feedback against the film was halted with the release of an amazing theatrical trailer, which mysteriously unveiled Optimus Prime and showed some spectacular shots of Michael Bay-esque action. Finally, as the new July 2nd release date comes closer, only positive news seems to emerge as new clips and TV spots emerge almost daily. Barring any unforeseen mishap, Transformers should be the most original summer blockbuster of the year.

Micheal Bay is a genius. Despite the fact that many people have given this film bad reviews,I on the other hand really enjoyed the movie. Now I don’t quite know what angle he was aiming for ,be it a real geeky comedy or an extravagant epic sci-fi adventure, he still managed to produce a damn good movie in my book. We have all seen the Micheal Bay list of flicks. Ranging from the outstanding war movie Pearl Harbor, right down to the sci-fi,end of the world ludicrously brilliant Armageddon. To see Optimus Prime in all his computer generated glory, for me was something special as I am a big fan of all that is Transformers. The comic book series, the cartoon and the 1986 classic animated movie all score high to me.

If your like me and you like Big explosions and great big flashes of light in a movie then this is one for you. When I first heard of this movie I immediately wondered weather the actual transformers would be computer generated like the enormously impressive cars on the Citroen adverts, and as I was pleased to find out, they were!

The film does take a while for all the fancy bits to begin but once they do you will almost certainly appreciate the wait.It just brings back so many awesome child hood memories of racing my brother home from school so we could watch transformers.I still actually have all of my original matchbox transformer toys.(their so cool!)

Shia LaBeouf stars as a young high school lad named Sam Witwicky who is desperate for a car so he can get himself a nice respectable young lady but the car that he decides to buy gives him so much more than he bargained for! The scene where he is purchasing his new ride with his father is actually very amusing. They go to a run down dump of a garage which is run by the comic legend…..Bernie Mac. who, although plays a minuscule role, excels himself as usual. As in every movie of this nature it would not be complete without the standard hot tottie played by a stunning young women named Megan Fox. I personally had never heard of her before but now I have I will be interested to see what other roles she can play. ooh yeah, and she happens to be one of the best looking chicks I have ever laid my eyes on! There are various other actors in this movie such as John Turturro who plays a mr know it all I’m a cop so don’t mess with me secret agent. The very funny Anthony Richards and the blond bombshell actress Rachael Taylor play a pair of computer hacker genius’s. Their relationship is a bit husband and wife if you ask me but never the less they both played nice little roles.

Now that I have mentioned some of the characters I suppose I should tell you a few facts about the film…The film itself cost a whopping great big $150 million but once you have watched it you will know why. The CGI characters are incredible. I have never in my life seen something so lifelike. Normally with films like this you can sit there and point out the glitches and mistakes, but I can assure you I have watched this movie 3 times now and there are zero defects.

I think thats about it for this review. The only way I can sum this up for all those people that love Transformers is that, I came to see big shiny robots and that is exactly what I saw. Another satisfied customer. If I had to score this film out of 10 it would score over points because it is an absolute epic movie!
